Standard automated form processing method can be summarized as following:
Whole document is scanned.
Scanned document is analyzed as to its type (invoice, tax return, etc.), multiple pages are pieced together.
OCR engine tries to recognize each field on the form and match it with an appropriate field within user’s document management system.
When OCR is unsure about a field, it asks operator to verify and match the field via dialogue window.
After the data is verified, it is exported into user’s document management system.

The major challenge of standard automated form processing method is to identify the right piece of information on the scanned image. Most vendors try to overcome this issue by creating a form template that assists the OCR in the process of matching, while others train their systems to recognize recurring types of documents. Open a desired form within your application and set focus on the first field using C-Pen command pad.
Scan fields such as ‘date’, ‘name’ from your paper form with C-Pen 20 one by one. Text-to-speech feature will prompt you to enter next field or you may select a field to enter yourself.
C-Pen software will check application database for fields entered to supply complementary information. For example, if a customer’s address is already in the system, all you need to do is enter customer’s name and the program will fill in the blanks.
When all fields on the form are entered, the program will prompt you to verify the data if it is unsure of a particular information segment.
The program will save the information into your document management system.
